Earlier this week, I attended a lecture by Chinese photographer and fine artist, Wang Qingsong, at Ringling College of Art and Design. I invited a friend, Priscilla Bass (known on the interweb as Scillz.) Priscilla is a working model and has been for the past several years. Seated in the second row, we watched as Qingsong spoke in his native Chinese, accompanied by a video documentary on his work and his process, while his wife Zang Fang translated to English.
Qingsong spoke of directing and working with a large number of models at once. I wondered about the differences in Priscilla and I's perspectives, as I spend most of my time behind the camera, while most of hers is spent in front.
